It’s still summertime and truly there is no better time to start tackling those extra projects you have put off throughout the year. If you own a business, it’s possible your exterior painting is looking a little worse for wear. It can also feel intimidating to start the process of making a painting plan. At JMA Painters, we are experienced painting contractors who are ready to take on painting jobs, no matter how big or small. And let’s be honest, an exterior job can be a rather large project. There are a couple of steps you can take, though, in order to put your mind at ease, and make sure you can check it off the list.

Step One: Consider the Benefits of Paint Refresh

Redoing your whole exterior can be an added expense, but choosing to commit to a refresh can really help your building standout. Assuming you want your structure to appeal to your customers, this is a great way to ensure that. Of course, having a building with peeling paint or lackluster colors can really be a turn off to consumers these days. To make sure you are looking your best as a company, a new coat of paint could be just the thing.

Step Two: Decide Which Season Will Be Best For Your Painting Project

While we mentioned upthread that summertime is a good time for planning projects, you may want to hold off on hiring a painting contractors crew. Humidity is not a friend to paint, and ideally you will want to paint when there is less of that stickiness in the air. Many experts aim for the fall where the weather is still warm, which will allow paint to dry quickly, but not so humid that it will ruin the paint job. There are methods and best practices to make a successful paint job at any time of year, so if your project is urgent, discuss options with your local painting contractors.

Step Three: Contact Your Preferred Painting Contractors

Which, of course, will be JMA Painters! After contacting us, we will work with you to come up with the best plan and time to proceed with your project. If you choose this route, no need to go on further. But if you’re planning on finishing the job yourself, continue to read and follow the additional steps below.

Step Four: Purchase Your Paint

Here is where you start to get creative. How do you envision your building to look after the job is done? What have you seen in other places that you really like? It should come to no surprise to you that white is exploding. Other trendy colors include beige, green/blue accent, gray, and even black! It’s a great time to re-paint as there are so many options to choose from. For more inspiration, check out this article from Brick & Batten. Wait on the Weather
We mentioned this already, but as much as you can plan for a day or days of painting, the weather has to cooperate with you. If it starts to rain or the humidity is out of control, sit this one out and wait for a warm day, but less humid–both great qualities for paint drying.
Prime Time
The old rule of painting used to be prime, sand, then add your color. These days though, there are some paint options that include primer already. If you want to try this option, keep in mind while the price may be higher, it could be worth it in the long run.
